Intermittent fasting has been rising in popularity as a great way to lose weight, improve metabolic health, and possibly even extend your lifespan. If you don’t know what it is here’s the basic breakdown – It’s when you eat all of your normal calories but only within a set eating window. That means you are fasting during the other hours of the day. Fasting times vary from 12-18 hrs. During your fast times, you are able to have a variety of intermittent fasting drinks.
These drinks will make your fasting window a much more enjoyable experience. If you’ve been wanting to try intermittent fasting, then you should definitely try these seven intermittent fasting drinks!
We all know how important it is to drink water and the same goes for when you are intermittent fasting. It’s critical that you drink plenty of water not only during your eating window but also during your fasting window to stay hydrated.
You can also try drinking mineral water to make sure you don’t get a mineral imbalance which can cause headaches and nausea. Lemon water is also great during fasting and is a super refreshing and filling treat. Seltzer water is my personal favorite because the bubbles give you a full feeling!
Don’t worry – you won’t have to go without your morning cup of coffee even when you’re fasting. Black coffee alone will not break your fast. In fact, it will keep you feeling alert and energized.
You won’t be able to add cream or sugar during your fasting window but don’t let that stop you from brewing up a cup of joe!
Tea is another great option for intermittent fasting drinks. It is a very healthy drink and if you drink green tea it can actually help you burn calories because it has compounds in it called “catechins” which have powerful antioxidant properties.
As with coffee, you won’t be able to add in cream or sugar but try different varies of tea to find one you like!
4. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
Apple cider vinegar only has 3 calories per serving so it won’t break your fast. It has many health benefits such as aiding in weight loss and lowering blood sugar levels. Try adding in 1-2 tablespoons to a glass of water.
5. Bone Broth
Bone broth has been all kinds of trendy lately and for good reason. It’s great for your health and boasts benefits such as reducing inflammation, slowing the aging process, and giving you glowing skin, hair, and nails because of the collagen in it.
It won’t break your fast and will leave you feeling full. It’s also super easy to make. Every time I have a whole chicken, I boil it, use the chicken for meals and save the broth for later. So easy and delicious!
6. Stevia Soda
Stevia is a natural zero-calorie sweetener so it won’t break your fast. Zevia is a stevia-sweetened soda that is perfect for intermittent fasting. It comes in all different flavors so you can have a sweet treat during your fast without the calories!
7. Almond Milk
Surprisingly, almond milk is also allowed during your fasting window as long as it does not contain sugar. You can make your own almond milk or find one that doesn’t have sugar. It will leave you feeling full and satisfied with its yummy nutty flavor!
