1. MINT – HERB & ESSENTIAL OIL
Mint is absolutely my favorite herb because there are so many varieties. Of course, they all smell amazing! Over the years, I’ve grown mojito mint, orange mint, chocolate mint, and spearmint. Did you know you can buy live plants on Amazon?! So cool!
Mint teas can be used medicinally to help with sleeping, headaches, and indigestion. It also has excellent culinary uses such as uses in salads, teas, and smoothies. Mint can be invasive and root vigorously.
Therefore, it should be grown in a container but that also means it’s hard to kill so it’s a great herb for a gardening beginner. I’ve forgotten to water mine many times but it always perks back up with a little love!
Mint essential oil has a wonderful smell and can be diffused to promote focus. It can also be mixed into DIY beauty projects and can help relieve sore muscles and tension.
2. LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL
Lemon essential oil is one of the best essential oils for beginners. A few years ago my son had eczema and it got so irritated it turned into a boil on his ankle! I started soaking it in saltwater and applying diluted lemon essential oil and it healed up within a few days! I’m telling you, it was like magic!
Ever since then, I’ve been a huge fan of lemon essential oil fan. I use it for skin-related issues as well as in all of my homemade cleaning supplies.
3. ROSEMARY – HERB & ESSENTIAL OIL
Rosemary is a beautifully fragrant herb that can be used to add flavor to many foods such as chicken, salad dressings, and vegetables. It can be used dried or fresh. We have a huge rosemary bush in our front yard and every time we roast a whole chicken, we clip a rosemary sprig off to put inside.
Rosemary also comes as an essential oil and is known to be energizing. It is said to reduce pain and inflammation. It can also help eliminate headaches and strengthen the immune system.
4. ORANGE ESSENTIAL OIL
I love citrus so I absolutely adore orange essential oil. I use it in the diffuser for a yummy summer scent and I also use it in my laundry and cleaning supplies. It’s one of the most wonderful essential oils for beginners.
5. LAVENDER HERB & ESSENTIAL OIL
Lavender can be grown easily in a pot and it puts out gorgeous purple flowers. I used to have a lavender plant but then my chickens ate it! 😆 I guess they were fans too!
Lavender essential oil should be found in every home! It’s usually the first of the essential oils for beginners that everyone goes to. That’s because it’s gentle and has a variety of uses. I use it in a blend for healing cuts and scrapes, I also diffuse it, and use it in my homemade cleaning supplies.
