1. SLEEP 6-8 HRS (OR MORE!) A NIGHT
Everyone naturally requires a different amount of sleep. It’s important to gauge how you feel and make sure you get the amount that makes you feel rested on a consistent basis. Your whole body will function more efficiently on adequate sleep!
2. STRETCH A FEW TIMES A DAY
Stretching is often overlooked but it is one of the most important healthy habits to cultivate. Even if you aren’t working out, you still need to stretch every day. My favorite stretches are the spinal twist, sun salutation, and using a foam roller like the one below.
3. GO OUTSIDE
If you work inside, it can be easy to go from one inside place to the next without spending much time outside. Being outside is great for your overall health. We all need fresh air and sunlight.
Make a decision to spend a certain amount of time outside every day and stick with it! Then, track it on your free healthy habit tracker!

4. NON-SCREEN BRAIN ACTIVITY
These days we end up doing so many of our daily tasks on a screen. There are apps for brain strengthening but I think our brains need a break from technology! Every day I try to do a few brain activities that don’t require a screen. Some of my favorites are reading, sudoku, & crossword puzzles the old fashioned way: on paper!
5. DRINK 8-10 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY
I know we’ve all heard it a million times but drinking water is so important! I notice a huge boost in my energy level when I remember to drink 8-10 glasses a day. You can track your water with your FREE healthy habit tracker. I drink my daily water out of this stainless steel tumbler.
6. FOCUS ON DEEP BREATHING
Our lives can get very busy and that can also mean our breathing gets shallow. Stress can cause us to actually take in less oxygen which can lead to less energy and even headaches. Several times a day, take a minute to stop and focus on taking long deep breaths. You’ll get more oxygen to your brain and feel more relaxed!

7. SWEAT IT OUT
If you work out regularly you probably already sweat on a daily basis. If you don’t, make sure you do something every day that makes you sweat! Why you might ask? Sweating naturally detoxes the body and flushes out yucky toxins!
8. GET YOUR HEART RATE UP
Getting your heart rate up is fantastic for your cardiovascular health but don’t feel like you have to plan a 30-minute workout every day. If you can’t commit to a workout schedule, commit to getting your heart rate up several times a day any way you can.
For example: chase your kids in the yard, run the stairs instead of walking, do jumping jacks when you’re waiting for your coffee to brew, or do squats when you’re doing the dishes. You get the idea – Make it fun!
9. EAT HEALTHY SNACKS
Healthy snacks are my go-to! Who doesn’t love snacking? Be sure to prepare healthy snacks ahead of time so you don’t end up snacking on junk food. Check out this post I wrote with all my favorite healthy snacks for all the snack inspo you need!

10. EAT 3 HEALTHY MEALS
Most people eat three meals a day but many of us are too busy to eat healthy, balanced meals. Be sure to eat a plethora of fresh, real foods and avoid anything processed.
